CENTRO COVID PROTOCOLO —ESPAÑOL—REVISIÓN de ENERO DE 2021 [inglés abajo]
Querida comunidad del Centro,
En agosto 2020 la Mesa Directiva y el Comité Central subieron un Protocolo de COVID a las páginas públicas del Centro, en que afirmamos el compromiso del Centro a la salud pública a través de mantener cerrado el edificio y los estacionamientos durante la pandemia. En ese entonces, muchxs esperabamos que para el fin de año 2020 la cosa se hubiera mejorado, y que para la Navidad podríamos empezar a hablar de un cronograma para la reabertura del espacio.
Aquí estamos en los albores de 2021, y tristemente no es así. Las tasas de infección del COVID son peores que nunca. Los hospitales de la zona están peligrosamente cerca a su máximo. El Condado de Orange ha vuelto a “estado morado,” con las mayores restricciones en las reuniones. Los códigos Zip justo alrededor del Centro mismo están entre los más golpeados por esta ola de infección, y la gente de color está infectándose y muriéndose desproporcionadamente. Así es que no tenemos otra opción sino reafirmar la cierre del Centro, bajo las mismas condiciones que compartimos en agosto (reiteradas abajo)
En tal un momento como éste, no es posible, ni sería responsable, pensar ni hablar de ninguna reabertura de ninguna parte de la propiedad para actividades regulares del Centro (eventos y clases) ni dentro del espacio ni en los estacionamientos, ya que bajo las condiciones actuales es imprescindible que la gente no se reúna en ningún lugar con lxs que no sean de su propia casa. En cuanto a lxs inquilinxs, sólo podemos recomendar fuertemente que mantengan un protocolo sanitario igual de estricto como el que ya publicamos en agosto (véanse abajo)
Sabemos bien que ésta es una política dura, pero como lxs que han aceptado la mayor responsabilidad para el conducto público y oficial del Centro, no tenemos otra opción sino respetar y hacer cumplir con la cuarentena, hasta que pase el peligro. Hacerlo de otro modo es nomás una invitación a la tragedia.
Lo importante en este momento es, comprometernos de nuevo a proteger la seguridad y la salud de los miembros más vulnerables de nuestra comunidad. Por lo tanto, estamos planeando un evento público virtual para la primera parte de 2021, con unxs expertxs de la salud pública que pueden escuchar las preocupaciones de la comunidad, y contestar sus preguntas. DESDE AGOSTO DE 2020 Y TODAVÍA VIGENTE:
Los eventos permitidos en el recinto del Centro serán:
- recoger comidas desde carros (drive-through)
- recoger firmas desde carros (drive-through)
- entregar tarjetas de efectivo desde carros (drive-through)
Todas estas actividades con el acuerdo de que TODXS deben llevar una mascarilla sobre boca y nariz; dos metros de distancia entre personas; gel desinfectante de manos disponibles para todxs; plumas y lápices limpiados entre cada uso.
El edificio se va a limpiar cada semana.
En la estación de Radio, sólo una persona a la vez, con un horario claro de quién estará en qué hora, para poder limpiar el espacio entre usos y evitar la contaminación del aire. Las mascarillas deben usarse en todo tiempo dentro del espacio de la radio.
Aparte de la Radio y la limpieza, si gente entra en el edificio SOLO puede ser para actividades conectadas con el COVID-19. Por favor, para estas actividades, mantener abiertas las ventanas y puertas, usen un ventilador en el espacio, y NO USEN el aire acondicionado.
- En el Salón Grande, máximo 3 personas, con mascarillas sobre bocas y narices, distanciamiento, y gel desinfectante.
- En los cuartos de conferencia, máximo 2 personas, con mascarillas sobre bocas y narices, distanciamiento, y gel desinfectante.
- En el estacionamiento, grupos de hasta 10 personas pueden reunirse, otra vez, con mascarillas sobre bocas y narices, distanciamiento, y gel desinfectante.
- Lávense las manos con frecuencia
- Si tienes cualquiera de los siguientes síntomas, por favor NO vengas al Centro:
o calentura o frío
o tos
o aliento corto o dificultad con la respiración
o cansancio
o calambres
o dolor de cabeza
o pérdida nueva del olfato o gusto
o dolor de gargamta
o náriz bloqueado o con mocos
o náusea o vómitos
o diarrea
Mientras avanza el manejo nacional y regional de la pandémica, ESPEREN CAMBIOS en estos protocolos, y manténganse alertxs para noticias.

CENTRO COVID PROTOCOL—ENGLISH—REVISION OF JANUARY 2021
Dear Centro community,
In August of 2020, the Board of Directors and Comité Central published a COVID protocol on Centro’s public pages, in which we affirmed Centro’s commitment to public health through keeping the building and parking lots closed during the pandemic. At that time, many of us hoped that by the end of 2020 things might have improved to the point where by Christmas we could begin talking about a timeline for re-opening.
Here we are in the first days of 2021 and sadly, this is not the case. COVID infection rates are worse than they’ve ever been. Local hospitals are dangerously maxed out. Orange County has returned to “purple status,” with the highest levels of restrictions on gatherings. The Zip codes immediately around Centro itself are among the hardest hit by this wave of infection, and people of color are getting infected and dying at a disproportionate rate. So we have no option but to reaffirm Centro’s closure, under the same conditions we first shared in August
In a moment like this it isn’t possible, nor would it be responsible, to think or talk of reopening any part of the property for regular Centro activities (events or classes, either in the space or in the parking lots, since under present conditions it is essential that people not meet anywhere with others from outside their households. As far as renters, all we can do is strongly recommend that they maintain a sanitary protocol at least as strict as the one we published in August (see below) We know this is a harsh policy, but as the ones who have accepted the greatest responsibility for Centro’s conduct as a public, official entity, we have no choice but to respect and enforce quarantine until the danger is past. To do it any other way would be to invite tragedy.
What’s important right now is to commit ourselves anew to protecting the safety and health of the most vulnerable members of our community. Accordingly, we hope to offer a virtual public event for early in 2021, with public health experts who can hear the community’s concerns and answer their questions. FROM AUGUST 2020, STILL IN FORCE:
Events that can happen on Centro premises are:
- drive thru food pick up,
- drive thru signature gathering,
- drive thru cash card hand out program
All these activities with the agreement that everyone must wear a mask over their mouths and noses, 6 feet distance between people, hand sanitizer available for everyone, pens wiped down between people .
The building will be cleaned weekly.
In the radio station only one person with a clear schedule of when the next person would come in, to be sure the station is cleaned and no possible air contamination has occurred. Masks worn at all times in the radio station.
Apart from the radio and cleaning service, if people are in the building it must be ONLY for COVID-related activities. Please, for these activities, keep windows and doors open, and run a fan in the space. Do NOT use the air conditioning.
- no more than 3 people at a time in the biggest room (dance studio), with masks over mouths and noses, with distancing, and hand sanitizer.
- in the conference rooms, no more than 2 people at a time), with masks over mouths and noses, with distancing, and hand sanitizer.
- Groups of no more than 10 can meet in the parking lot, again with masks over mouths and noses, with distancing, and hand sanitizer.
- Wash your hands frequently
- If you have any of these symptoms, do NOT come onto the premises:
o Fever or chills
o Cough
o Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
o Fatigue
o Muscle or body aches
o Headache
o New loss of taste or smell
o Sore throat
o Congestion or runny nose
o Nausea or vomiting
o Diarrhea
As local and national response to the pandemic progresses, PLEASE EXPECT CHANGES to these protocols, and please keep an eye out for updates.
